High Performance Coaching
Basketball Queensland (BQ) registers, educates, trains, accredits and licenses all coaches who are active within membership clubs and Associations in Queensland with the intention of improving the quantity and quality of coaches of youth basketball and aiding athletes mental, physical and skill development.
As part of this process, select coaches may be invited to participate in BQ's High performance program.
This program is for athlete development and coaching of 12 & 13 year old male and female athletes.
This operates on a regional north and south basis and features weekly skills & team concept coaching to BQ style of play for select U16 & U18 athletes.
These positions are selected each year on an application basis and include Head, Assistant, Development and Scholarship Coach opportunities.
State Coach Aspire Program
Each year Basketball Queensland (BQ) offers up to 40 State Team volunteer coaching positions (plus a number of Emerging Team coaching positions) to help coaches across the State further their development.
Coaches are invited to work with our Queensland U16, U18 and U20 State Teams, as well as our High Performance Emerging Teams (Future Development Program), culminating in National competitions such as the Australian Junior Championships (AJC).
These volunteer coaching positions have served as an excellent development pathway for coaches aspiring to coach in the NBL1 and Australian National Youth Team level.
