Basketball Queensland (BQ) is excited to announce that a modified 2020 Queensland State League (QSL) will tip off on 8 August this year.
Following the suspension of basketball activity in March due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the inaugural NBL1 North season, BQ has been working closely with our associations to ensure our senior representative players have the opportunity to take to the court this year.
“It’s fantastic to see our associations come together for the QSL in 2020, giving their senior players a chance to get back on the court”, said BQ Chief Operating Officer Joshua Pascoe.
“The cancellation of the NBL1 North was a blow to teams getting ready to compete in the inaugural season, but I’m glad that we’re able to provide those associations with the opportunity to compete in the QSL this year”.
Thirteen associations will compete across two divisions (men’s and women’s division in each) from August – October, with Grand Finals set to be held on Saturday, 24 October.
Division Structure
Division 1: Men and Women and Division 2: Men
In a condensed draw, teams will play each other once either home or away. The Top 6 teams in each division will qualify for finals.
Division 2: Women
The Women’s QSL Division 2 will play a full home and away season in the 2020 season. Teams placed in the Top 4 will make finals before the Grand Final on 24 October.
The QSL Finals will take place over two weekends, with Quarter Finals set to be played over 17-18 of October.
The Semi Finals for each division will take place on Friday, 23 October, with Grand Final games set to be played on Saturday, 24 October.
The top two teams in #QSL1 (Men and Women) and #QSL2 Mens automatically go through to Semi Finals, where the highest placed teams will meet the lowest ranked Quarter Final winners.
